Before last week, Twitter’s hashtags were primarily used to link together common themes throughout users’ tweets. The # symbol is placed before a word and when clicking on that word you can see other tweets of the same genre. Really practical but the new hashtag pages that have just been introduced are..well, awesome! Now, the hashtag is being used to link content to an actual page for an event. This has expanded Twitter’s universe to one of discovery rather than just the sharing of thoughts and ideas. Nascar and Twitter teamed up to test out their new innovation last weekend at the Pocono 400 Race. Info and photos were posted from the drivers, commentators, celebrities and fans.
